Aanvullende informatie

Schönwald is a small porcelain-manufacturing town in the Black Forest, and this iron notgeld pfennig was issued in 1918 when the wartime requisitioning of copper and brass had effectively ended normal small-denomination coinage in Germany. Municipalities, businesses, and even individual factories across the Reich filled the gap with locally issued emergency money, iron being one of the few metals not yet fully consumed by the war economy.

The Funck reference places this among the better-documented municipal iron issues of Baden.
