| Opmerkingen |
Kettwig was an independent textile-manufacturing town on the Ruhr, and like hundreds of small German municipalities in 1921, it issued its own cardboard Kleingeldersatz when coin shortages made ordinary commerce nearly impossible. The postwar inflation had already begun eroding metal from circulation well before the hyperinflationary peak of 1923.
The Tieste Va prefix indicates this falls within the Westphalian emergency money corpus. Cardboard Notgeld of this size and weight survives poorly — the material warps and splits with humidity, and many pieces were simply discarded once Reichsbank coin supplies normalized briefly in late 1921.
