Obverse description Four-fold quartered heraldic shield bearing the combined arms of Trier, Mainz, Bavaria, and Cologne, with the initial letter R of Archbishop Richard of Greiffenklau positioned above the escutcheon. The entire device is enclosed within a circle of pellets. The overall design is characteristic of the small hammered bracteate-style coinage of the Rhenish archbishoprics of the early sixteenth century.
