| 裏面の説明 | Octagonal reverse with a beaded outer border following the eight-sided perimeter. A twisted rope or cord circle is centrally placed in the field, enclosing the numeral '1' at center. The circular legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' runs between the rope circle and the beaded border, identifying the piece as a small-change substitute token. Three small five-pointed stars punctuate the legend at the base of the design. The reverse maintains the same utilitarian character as the obverse, typical of German Notgeld issues of the inflationary period. |

Rathenower Dampfmühlen A.G. was one of hundreds of German industrial firms that issued zinc notgeld pfennigs during the acute small-change shortages of 1916–1922, when wartime metal requisitions stripped circulation of copper and nickel coinage almost entirely. Factory-issued tokens like this one functioned as wage scrip redeemable only at company-affiliated canteens or shops, tethering workers' purchasing power directly to their employer.
