| Beschrijving voorzijde | Winged angel figure depicted in frontal stance, holding a club, rendered in a highly stylized and flat relief characteristic of 13th-century Austrian bracteate-influenced pfennig coinage. The figure's wings are spread to either side, with schematic feather detail visible. The irregular flan exhibits typical characteristics of hand-hammered medieval silver coinage. |

Ottokar II ruled Austria from 1251 following the extinction of the Babenberg line, eventually controlling a territorial bloc stretching from Bohemia to the Adriatic — the largest dominion held by any Bohemian king. His assassination at the Battle on the Marchfeld in 1278 ended that ambition, but these small silver pfennigs were struck throughout his Austrian tenure, circulating across a region he governed more as an opportunistic annexation than an inherited patrimony.
