正面描述 Plain teal-grey paper with a fine guilloche underprint in pink and blue tones. A bold black denticulated border frames the central field, within which the denomination numeral "1" and abbreviation "Pfg." appear in black letterpress. Flanking the central text on left and right are two stylised monogram vignettes printed in turquoise, likely representing the colliery's initials.

备注

Zeche Ludwig was a coal mine in Bergerhausen, Essen, and like many Ruhr collieries during the First World War, it operated a prisoner of war labor camp to offset the severe manpower shortages caused by mass conscription. This note — a 1 Pfennig denomination — is camp scrip, issued internally to facilitate small transactions within the compound rather than allowing prisoners access to Reichsmark currency. The practice was widespread across German industrial sites from 1914 onward, sanctioned under military labor regulations.

At this denomination, the note functioned essentially as change token. The extreme scarcity of surviving Zeche Ludwig scrip suggests most was redeemed or destroyed at the camp's closure.
