Obverse description An outer pearl border follows the octagonal flan, enclosing a circular Latin legend reading SCHUSTERS WARENHAUS above and LEIPZIG below, separated by small floral ornaments. Within the legend, a beaded inner circle frames the central field, in which the numeral 1 is prominently struck in relief, denoting the denomination of one Pfennig. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, consistent with German notgeld emergency coinage of the World War I era.

No additional legend or inscription appears on the reverse, the monogram serving as the sole identifying device.
