Lamprecht von Brunn served as Bishop of Bamberg from 1374 until his death in 1399, a tenure marked by persistent conflict with the burghers of Bamberg over municipal rights and episcopal authority. These small bracteate-style pfennigs were struck under his direct monetary prerogative — the bishops of Bamberg had held imperial minting rights since the diocese's foundation by Henry II in 1007.
At 0.42g, these are among the lightest issues of the Bamberg series, reflecting the progressive debasement of small silver coinage across Franconian mints in the late fourteenth century.
