| 裏面の説明 | Octagonal reverse with a continuous pearl border following the eight-sided periphery. The circular legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' (small change substitute token) occupies the outer legend band. Within the legend, a twisted rope circle encloses the central field, in which the numeral '1' is struck in relief. Three five-pointed stars are arranged at the base of the composition, one at the center and one flanking on each side, serving as decorative dividers between the legend terminals. |

BAMAG — Berliner Maschinenfabrik AG, operating its Bayenthal facility on the southern edge of Cologne — issued zinc notgeld pfennigs during the early 1920s when small-denomination coinage had effectively vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted as metal values outpaced face values. Factory-issued tokens of this type were redeemable only within the issuing works, functioning as a closed-loop wage supplement when cashiers simply had nothing smaller to give.
