Obverse description The obverse displays the civic arms of Augsburg — the pine cone emblem — positioned at the top of a quatrefoil ornamental frame, with the date 1624 inscribed horizontally across the centre field. Three decorative sprigs or plant branches occupy the lower lobe of the quatrefoil, serving as additional heraldic embellishments. The entire composition is set within the diamond-shaped klippe flan, with the quatrefoil border elegantly filling the square format. The design is executed in low relief consistent with hammered klippe coinage of the early seventeenth century.
