| Obverse description | Central field displays the Austrian shield — a fess (horizontal bar) over a hatched or striated lower half — surmounted by a royal crown, all rendered in the crude, flat relief characteristic of early sixteenth-century hammered coinage. The date, rendered in Gothic numerals, appears in the upper field above the crowned shield. The overall style reflects the provincial Vienna Mint workmanship of the early Habsburg period under Karl V and Ferdinand I. |
