Obverse description Two adjoining oval heraldic shields surmounted by ornate Electoral crowns, displayed side by side within a beaded border. The left shield bears the crossed swords of the Margraviate of Meissen, while the right shield displays the barry field of the Electorate of Saxony with the rautenkranz (rue crown) diagonal. The shields rest upon decorative baroque scrollwork and mantling filling the lower field. The overall design is characteristic of late 17th-century Saxon small coinage, struck on a thin, irregular flan with a milled edge.
