| Obverse description | Central field displays the Saxon coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing the distinctive barry with a crancelin (rautenkranz) — set within an oval cartouche or beaded inner circle. The arms are surrounded by decorative mantling or foliate ornament. A mintmaster's initial or mint mark appears in the lower field below the shield. The design is rendered in the hammered style typical of early 17th-century Saxon Pfennig coinage, with a plain beaded border encircling the entire composition. |
