| Beschrijving voorzijde | Two adjacent heraldic shields displaying the arms of Electoral and Ducal Saxony, struck in low relief typical of hammered coinage of the period. The date appears above the shields in the upper field, while a mint symbol consisting of a circle enclosing a cross is positioned below the shields. The overall design is characteristic of the small silver Pfennig coinage of the Saxon Electorate during the joint rule of John Frederick I and Moritz. The flan is irregular in shape and the relief is shallow, consistent with hand-hammered production techniques of the early sixteenth century. |
