Obverse description Elaborate cursive cypher of the initials JF (for Johann Friedrich, Prince of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt) in relief at centre, the interlaced letters rendered in an ornate calligraphic style. The monogram is flanked on either side by decorative foliate branches. Above the cypher, a princely crown with visible arches and jewelled band surmounts the composition, filling the upper field.
