Obverse description Central field dominated by a large cursive initial 'F' surmounted by an elaborate ducal crown, flanked on either side by the date numerals '10' and '79' (forming the year 1679). The mint master's initials 'R' and 'B' appear in the lower field to the left and right of the monogram's base, respectively. The design occupies the full flan in the characteristic style of small hammered German Pfennig coinage of the late 17th century. The irregular flan edge is typical of hammered production at the Clausthal or Zellerfeld mint.
