Johannes V Blankenfeld held the Bishopric of Dorpat only under duress — his tenure was marked by the escalating collapse of Livonian Order authority and his own catastrophic political overreach, which ultimately led to his arrest by Wolter von Plettenberg in 1524 on charges of treason. He died in exile in 1527 before ever returning to his see.
