Aanvullende informatie

Khuen von Belasi held the archbishopric for over three decades, making him one of the longer-tenured Salzburg rulers of the sixteenth century. His tenure coincided with intense Counter-Reformation pressure, and Salzburg's ecclesiastical mint operated throughout as an assertion of the prince-archbishops' imperial immediacy — their right to coin derived directly from the Holy Roman Emperor, not from any secular intermediary.

At 0.26 g, these were among the smallest silver denominations produced by any German territorial mint of the period, and surviving examples are frequently clipped or bent from use in small commerce.
