Aanvullende informatie

Jakob von Liebenstein served as Archbishop of Mainz from 1504 until his death in 1508 — a tenure brief enough that his coinage is structurally scarce across all denominations. Mainz at this moment was still recovering financially from the catastrophic costs of the Mainz Diocesan Feud of the previous century, which had left the archbishopric deeply indebted and its mint output erratic. The pfennig, at 0.26g, sits at the lower threshold of what the period's silver technology could reliably strike with consistent weight.
