| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by a large episcopal cross pattée, its arms extending nearly to the inner border, with a small orb or roundel at the center intersection. The upper arm of the cross is surmounted by a bishop's mitre, rendered in relief. The initials H.B. and the numeral 1 appear as a legend around the cross, referencing Bishop Heinrich von Knöringen and the denomination. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle set against a plain field, characteristic of the simple hammered small coinage of the early seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical mints. |

Henry V of Knöringen presided over the Bishopric of Augsburg during the opening years of the Thirty Years' War, and this small copper issue reflects the monetary chaos of that moment. The war disrupted silver supplies and trade networks across the Empire, pushing minor territorial authorities to strike emergency copper coinage to meet everyday demand. The 1621–1622 date range coincides precisely with the Kipper- und Wipperzeit — a currency crisis in which speculators and mints alike debased coinage on an industrial scale, flooding the Empire with underweight small change.
