| 背面描述 | The reverse carries a four-line Latin inscription in the field, reading the denomination and issuer abbreviation across successive lines. The legend '1 PFENNIG / F.S.G.V.A. / LMVTNZ / 1747' is arranged centrally within a plain field, with the date appearing in the lowest line. A beaded or milled inner border frames the inscription, and the flat field shows characteristic wear of a circulated copper piece. The abbreviated legend references Friedrich, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and associated territories. |

Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg was one of the more administratively coherent of the Ernestine Saxon duchies by the mid-eighteenth century, though Frederick III's reign was marked more by court frugality than political ambition. Small copper pfennig issues of this type circulated almost exclusively within duchy borders, where the fragmented coinage rights of the German states meant a coin minted in Gotha was worth nothing two principalities over without a money-changer's agreement.
