| 正面描述 | Central field features the quartered arms of the Abbey of Corvey surmounted by a princely hat, the shield divided into four quarters with abbatial and territorial charges. The date 1704 is incorporated into the legend. A circular Latin legend reading FLORENT.D.G.AB.C.S.R.I.P. surrounds the central armorial device, identifying Florenz von Welden as Prince-Abbot by the grace of God. |

Corvey Abbey, founded in 822 on the Weser River, held the status of an Imperial Abbey — directly subject to the Holy Roman Emperor rather than any territorial prince — which granted it the right to strike its own coinage. By 1704, that privilege was already an anachronism, squeezed by the consolidating power of neighboring Hanover and Prussia. Florenz von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht served as prince-abbot during a period when the abbey's political independence was more nominal than real.
