Obverse description The Saxon coat of arms displayed centrally within a shield, barry of ten sable and or, surmounted by a crancelin (rautenkranz) in bend, rendered in relief. The shield is flanked by elaborate foliate and scroll ornamentation filling the field. No legend is present; the design occupies the full flan in the typical style of small hammered copper coinage of the period.

Reverse description A flowering plant with a single bloom at the apex rises from the base of the field, its stem and leaves rendered in stylized relief. The initials C and H, denoting the mint or ducal authority, flank the plant to the left and right respectively, rendered in bold Latin characters. The date is split across the lower field, with the first two digits appearing to the lower left and the last two digits to the lower right of the stem. A beaded or milled border encircles the entire design.
