Obverse description Elaborately interlaced royal cypher 'EAR' (Ernst Augustus Rex) rendered in ornate script, centrally positioned in the field. The monogram is surmounted by a large Hanoverian royal crown with arched band and jewelled base, depicted in fine relief. The overall design is unadorned by any legend or border inscription, with the crowned monogram serving as the sole decorative and identifying element. The style reflects the refined engraving tradition of early nineteenth-century German state coinage.
