| Obverse description | Quartered shield of arms within a beaded border, displaying the four heraldic charges of the Bishopric of Osnabrück: a wheel (Mainz), a cross, and a lion among the quarters. The initial letter 'E', standing for Bishop Erich II of Brunswick-Grubenhagen, appears prominently above the shield in the upper field. The overall design is characteristic of late medieval German ecclesiastical coinage produced by hammering. |
