| 背面描述 | Architectural representation of the Cathedral of Cologne (Dom) rendered in a schematic Romanesque style, showing a central facade with multiple towers, arched portals, and decorative battlements. The structure is depicted frontally with detailed pilasters, blind arcading, and a prominent central arched doorway, all executed in a flat, stylized manner typical of 13th-century episcopal coinage. A beaded border frames the design, with a partial Latin legend running around the outer edge. |

Engelbert I of Berg became Archbishop of Cologne in 1216 under contested circumstances, having effectively outmaneuvered rival candidates with the backing of Pope Honorius III. He ruled as both ecclesiastical and secular prince — functioning as regent of the Holy Roman Empire for the young Henry VII from 1220 until his murder in 1225, ambushed on the road near Gevelsberg by a coalition of local nobles led by his own cousin, Frederick of Isenberg. Coins struck during his regency carry unusual political weight for such small silver.
