Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the episcopal symbols of a sword and key are depicted crossed in saltire at the center of the field, forming the principal device of the coin. The arrangement is characteristic of the Livonian ecclesiastical coinage of the early sixteenth century, rendered in a bold though somewhat crude hammered style. A circular Latin legend in uncial characters surrounds the central device, running along the outer margin of the flan.
