Additional information

Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort was among the smallest sovereign entities of the Holy Roman Empire, controlling a patchwork of territories along the Main and Tauber rivers with a population that never remotely justified an independent monetary output. Charles Thomas ruled from 1735 until his death in 1789, and copper pfennig issues like this one were struck more to assert comital dignity than to serve any practical commercial need. The KM#6 designation places this among a very limited run of denominations produced under his authority.
