Obverse description Central field displays the quartered coat of arms of Brandenburg-Ansbach, featuring the distinctive checkered (lozengy) pattern of the Hohenzollern arms, surmounted by a princely crown. The shield is flanked by laurel branches on either side, with the mint mark 'S' (for Schwabach) appearing below the shield within a small circle. The peripheral legend 'LAND MUNZ' arcs across the upper field, with a finely milled border encircling the entire design.

Below, the legend 'PFENNING' is inscribed in bold relief, separated from the date '1766' by a horizontal line, with a small decorative rosette or star device preceding the numerals. Two small floral rosettes flank the numeral 'I' in the upper portion of the cartouche. A milled border frames the entire reverse design.
