| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a heraldic shield bearing a stylized bird (likely a crane or heron), displayed in profile and standing on a perch, rendered in the Gothic manner typical of Livonian Order coinage. The shield is set within a plain inner circle, around which runs a continuous uncial Latin legend occupying the entire field to the coin's edge. The design is characteristic of the hammered billon pfennigs struck at Wenden under Master Bernd von der Borch. |
