| Obverse description | Quartered shield of arms of the Abbey of Fulda occupying the central field, with the initials BA (for Balthasar von Dernbach, Prince-Abbot) inscribed above the shield. The coat of arms displays the characteristic quartered design incorporating the arms of the abbey, rendered in the crude hammered style typical of small German States pfennig coinage of the early seventeenth century. A beaded or pellet border surrounds the design on the irregular flan. |
