Arnold II of Isenburg's tenure as Archbishop of Trier was defined less by ecclesiastical calm than by aggressive territorial consolidation and repeated conflict with the counts of Luxembourg and the burghers of Trier itself. The archbishops of Trier held one of the oldest minting rights in the German lands, traceable to imperial grants predating the Ottonian period, and Arnold exercised that authority assertively throughout his seventeen-year pontificate.
Weiller 154 is a bracteate-influenced pfennig of the middle Rhine type. Surviving examples are thin and prone to edge splits — a structural reality of the fabric, not a strike anomaly.
