Beschrijving voorzijde Central field dominated by the crowned coat of arms of the County of Montfort-Peggau, comprising a quartered shield surmounted by a closed crown. The shield is flanked on either side by ornate foliate or feathered mantling extending outward from the central device. The coin's outer border features a beaded or milled rim characteristic of hammered billon issues of this period. The overall die work is rendered in a provincial baroque style typical of small German county coinage of the early eighteenth century. The date elements and initial 'A' (for Anthony III) appear integrated within or adjacent to the shield device.

Aanvullende informatie

Montfort-Peggau was a minor Styrian lordship whose coinage rights were perpetually contested; by 1703, Anthony III was issuing small billon pieces under privileges that larger Habsburg authorities considered increasingly irregular. The county was absorbed into the Habsburg administrative apparatus shortly after, making this among the last independent issues from the line.
