Reverse description Central field displays the numeral 1 above the denomination legend PFENNIG in bold raised Latin capitals, with the date 1862 inscribed below. The entire central inscription is encircled by a wreath composed of oak branches with acorns and lobed leaves, tied at the base, characteristic of German state coinage of the mid-nineteenth century. The design is contained within a toothed inner border consistent with the obverse.
