Dramburg — now Drawsko Pomorskie in northwestern Poland — was among hundreds of German municipalities that issued their own small-denomination emergency paper money during the acute coin shortage of 1919–1921. This 1 Pfennig note is among the lowest denominations produced in the entire Notgeld period; most municipalities didn't bother printing anything below 5 Pfennig, which makes Dramburg's decision to go this small a minor curiosity in the series.
The tiny format is a direct consequence of the denomination — there was simply no reason to use more paper.
