Opmerkingen

Weißwasser, a glass-manufacturing town in Upper Lusatia, issued emergency municipal paper currency — Notgeld — during 1917 when the wartime metal shortage made even the smallest coins impossible to keep in circulation. The Reich had been pulling copper and nickel from everyday use since 1915, and by mid-war, pfennig denominations had effectively vanished from commerce. Municipalities were left to fill the gap themselves, with no standardized authorization and wildly inconsistent print quality.

The .3g suffix in the DeNG reference indicates a sub-variety within the W25 series — likely a printing or paper stock difference from otherwise identical issues.
