Obverse description The city arms of Lüneburg occupy the central field, depicting a fortified castle or gate with multiple towers, rendered in the crude but vigorous style characteristic of early 17th-century hammered copper coinage. The design fills nearly the entire flan, with minimal surrounding field visible. A beaded border frames the periphery of the coin. The die workmanship reflects local municipal production typical of the Kipper und Wipper inflationary period.
