Obverse description Conjoined heraldic shields of Bamberg (three diagonal stripes) and Zollern (quartered with alternating plain and semy fields), suspended from a loop at the top of the field. A Gothic letter M appears in the lower field, flanked by two small annulets. The design is executed in the characteristic late-medieval bracteate-influenced style of the Franconian region.
