The "Decreto-Ley" overprint on this note reflects a specific bureaucratic moment: Argentine currency law required that peso notes issued under decree-law authority carry that designation explicitly on the face, distinguishing them from notes authorized through full legislative process. By 1974, with Isabel Perón's government inheriting an economy already under severe inflationary strain, the 1 Peso denomination was rapidly losing practical utility — within two years, peso notes of this value were essentially worthless in everyday transactions.
Casa de Moneda produced the entire series domestically, one of the few periods when Argentina's printing infrastructure handled the full load without foreign contract assistance.
