| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion displays a rising sun over a key between two headlands, the lower left bears three blue and white diagonal stripes representing the original Cuban provinces, and the lower right features a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a staff, symbolising liberty, and is flanked by two sprays of laurel and oak branches bound at the base. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the denomination '1 PESO' appears in bold relief along the lower rim. |
