| Obverse description | Central device comprising a classical column rising from a decorative base, surmounted by a terrestrial globe, above which a six-pointed star is depicted. A flowing ribbon inscribed LIBERTAD arches over the globe, its ends extending to either side of the field. The peripheral legend UNION Y FUERZA encircles the design, interrupted by the assayer initials below and the date 1817 in the lower exergue. The coin exhibits a reeded border throughout. |
