KM#907 is part of Cuba's "Previous Coinage" commemorative series, which reproduced designs from the republic's pre-revolutionary monetary history — a politically charged exercise for an institution that had spent decades distancing itself from that same past. The 41-gram copper format places it firmly in the collector medal tradition rather than anything intended for circulation.
