| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents conjoined busts of two figures in high relief facing right in three-quarter profile: at left, President Ferdinand E. Marcos in civilian dress, and at right, His Holiness Pope Paul VI wearing a zucchetto and clerical vestments, commemorating the papal visit to the Philippines. The legend HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI arcs along the upper periphery, and PRESIDENT FERDINAND E. MARCOS runs along the lower periphery, both in raised Latin lettering. Star-shaped stops punctuate the inscription. A beaded inner border frames the composition. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Pope Paul VI visited the Philippines in November 1970 — the first papal visit to Asia — and was nearly assassinated at Manila International Airport when Bolivian surrealist painter Benjamín Mendoza y Amor lunged at him with a knife concealed beneath a cassock. Marcos authorized commemorative coinage for the occasion, and multiple pattern compositions were struck before the final issue was settled. The copper version was not adopted for circulation.
