| Beschrijving voorzijde | Printed in red and black, the obverse centres on a large intaglio vignette of two horses in motion — one rearing, one at full gallop — flanked on each side by ornamental guilloche panels bearing the numeral '1'. The bank title 'LA SUCURSAL DEL BANCO DE SAN JUAN' runs along the top, with 'CATAMARCA' overprinted in bold letters across the face, and text panels below record the obligation to pay one peso plata in current Bolivian coin within the province. Printing date is partially manuscript, with spaces for series, number, and the signatures of the Consejero and Gerente. |

| Opmerkingen |
Banco de San Juan was an Argentine provincial bank authorized to issue notes during the brief but chaotic period of free banking in Argentina, before the 1890 crisis forced the liquidation or nationalization of most provincial issuers. The Catamarca branch designation on this note is uncommon — most surviving PS1862 examples are payable at San Juan proper, making the branch attribution worth noting for provenance purposes.
The denomination in pesos plata corriente places this firmly in the pre-unification monetary regime, before Argentina standardized on the peso moneda nacional in 1881.
