| Beschrijving keerzijde | The central disc reproduces the reverse design of Argentina's first national coin of 1813, featuring the radiant National Sun (Sol de Mayo) with 32 alternating straight and wavy rays surrounded by the inscription PROVINCIAS DEL RIO DE LA PLATA in the inner field. The denomination UN PESO is inscribed in the upper portion of the outer ring, while the issue year 1994 appears in the lower portion of the outer ring. The bimetallic format — aluminium-bronze centre within a copper-nickel ring — frames and contrasts with the historic central design, emphasising the coin's commemorative and pattern nature. |

Argentina's convertibility regime, launched in 1991 under Economy Minister Domingo Cavallo, pegged the peso one-to-one with the US dollar and demanded a coinage infrastructure capable of meeting that credibility. Pattern production was farmed out to multiple foreign mints for evaluation — this piece originates from German production trials conducted ahead of the circulating bimetallic issue. The German submission was ultimately not selected for the production contract.
