| 背面描述 | A left-facing draped bust of Christopher Columbus dominates the central field, rendered in fine portrait style with the explorer's name CRISTÓBAL COLÓN arching along the upper legend. The denomination UN PESO and the geographic inscription AMÉRICA CENTRAL are placed along the lower periphery, flanked by decorative stops. The portrait is finely modeled with careful attention to period costume detail, befitting a commemorative pattern issued in connection with the 400th anniversary of Columbus's voyage. |

El Salvador's 1892–1893 coinage program coincided with the country's participation in the Columbus quadricentennial celebrations, during which several Latin American nations issued commemorative and pattern pieces. KM#Pn38 is one of a small series of copper patterns produced that year as the government evaluated designs before committing to silver production — most were never adopted, and surviving examples exist in very small numbers.
