Obverse description Black letterpress text on a green guilloche underprint, with red serial numbers. At left, a vignette of the Mexican national arms — an eagle devouring a serpent, perched on a nopal cactus set before two mountains — serves as the principal design element. The face carries extensive text in Spanish setting out the terms of the provisional obligation, dated Mexico, July 25, 1914, with the series letter 'A' indicated above the main legend.
Obverse lettering ESTADOS UNIDOS DE MEXICO Obligacion Provisional del Erario Federal Letra A La tesoreria de la Federacion pagara al portador $1.00 (UN PESO) Esta obligacion esta garantizada con bonos del tesoro Federal amortizable en oro mexicano, 6%-1914-10 anos, por cantidad igual a su valor, conforme al decreto de 6 del corriente y sera amortizable en los terminos que dicho Decreto dispone. Mexico julio 25 de 1914.
(Translation: United States of Mexico Provisional Obligation of the Federal Treasury The treasury of the Federation will pay the bearer $1.00 (ONE PESO) This obligation is guaranteed with Federal Treasury bonds redeemable in Mexican gold, 6%-1914-10 years, for an amount equal to its value, in accordance with the decree of 6 of the current and will be redeemable in the terms that said Decree provides. Mexico July 25, 1914.)
Reverse description Printed entirely in green on plain paper, the reverse is enclosed within an elaborate engraved border of repeating geometric and foliate guilloche ornaments at top, bottom, and sides, with decorative corner pieces. The central panel carries a green guilloche underprint over which a block of Spanish text is printed in dark green ink; at the lower left, a faint circular dry seal impression is visible.
