| 背面描述 | The reverse depicts a figural scene of José Martí and Máximo Gómez engaged in discussion, rendered in low relief against an architectural interior backdrop, commemorating their drafting of the Montecristi Manifesto. The date 'marzo 25 de 1895' is inscribed on the wall within the scene. The legend 'MANIFIESTO DE MONTECRISTI' arcs along the upper periphery, while the mintmark and issue year '1994' appear in the lower left of the field. |

The Montecristi Manifesto was the political document drafted by José Martí and Máximo Gómez in the Dominican town of Montecristi in March 1895, weeks before Martí's death at Dos Ríos. It laid out the terms and moral framework for the final war of Cuban independence — insisting the struggle was not against Spaniards as a people but against colonial rule itself. This coin was struck in 1994 to mark the centenary of that document and the war it launched.
The two JMA references suggest this type was issued in at least two distinct variants, likely differing in finish or packaging rather than die design.
