正面描述 The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield charged with a key between two promontories above sea waves, a royal palm tree in the upper segment, and surrounded by a Fasces with a Phrygian cap on the left and an oak and laurel branch on the right. A rising sun appears in the background behind the shield. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO flanked by five-pointed stars is inscribed along the lower rim.

附加信息

Issued the year after the Cuban Constitution of 1976 formally restructured the country as a socialist state, this piece was part of a broader commemorative program that positioned Soviet iconography within Cuban numismatics at the height of the two countries' political alignment. Cuba received somewhere between $6 and $10 million per day in Soviet subsidies during this period — the coins were, in one sense, minted on borrowed money.
