| 正面铭文 | EL DEPARTAMENTO DE EMISIÓN DEL BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR Y A LA VISTA Montevideo, Ley de 2 de Enero de 1939 UN PESO MONEDA NACIONAL (Translation: The issuance department of the Bank of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Will pay to the bearer and at sight Montevideo, Law of Jan. 2nd., 1939 One Peso National currency) |
| 背面描述 | A central intaglio vignette renders a fleet of early sailing vessels under full sail upon open seas, with a fortified coastline visible in the background, evoking the colonial-era discovery of the Río de la Plata estuary and the founding of Montevideo. Elaborate scrollwork pilasters frame the composition on either side, each bearing the numeral "1", while the bank title is set in bold letterpress at the top and the denomination "UN PESO" appears in large serif type at the foot of the design. The printer's imprint "THOMAS DE LA RUE & CO. LTD." is inscribed below the lower border. |

| 备注 |
Pick 35 is the third signature variety within the 1939-law Peso series, with this particular iteration issued in 1948 under different BROU authorities than the earlier printings. Thomas De La Rue handled the entire run from London, a relationship the Uruguayan republic maintained for decades across multiple denominations.
The 1939 authorizing law rationalized a currency structure that had grown unwieldy under earlier legislation, and notes printed against it remained in circulation well into the 1950s alongside higher-denomination issues. Signature combinations are the primary distinguishing factor between Pick 35 variants, and misidentification is common in generalist collections.
